PTG Co-Presidents’ Message and News

We hope you are all making smooth adjustments into “Phase 3” of this virtual learning voyage. A HUGE thank you to all the teachers and assistants navigating these challenging waters. We know this is hard on everyone and many are grieving the loss of the school year. We appreciate so much what the entire staff of the Thoreau School is doing to help students and families. A lower grade Zoom meeting is not a pretty sight, but is so incredibly valuable even with all its chaos. Speaking of Zoom meetings, we will be having one next Tuesday, May 12th at 1:00 p.m. Be on the look out for an email from Angel Charles with a Zoom link.

The District, through the leadership of Bryce MacNight is continuing to provide food to those in need. If you would like to contribute here is the link: https://www.concordps.org/food-and-nutrition-services

Take care of yourselves and be safe.

At Home Field Day- May 8th

The Elementary PE Staff (Mr. Gaudreau, Mr. Germond and Mrs. Murphy) are hoping you can notify families that the elementary schools will be having an at home field day this year!

The elementary PE teachers are excited to offer a National Field Day on Friday May 8th, organized and sponsored by the On-line Physical Education Network (OPEN). PE teachers will be posting info on their website and disseminating that info through classroom teachers so that students can see what activities are offered and practice activities on the days leading up to the big event.

Here is a link to the activities: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gsCv7Y4fuNc-6sInkIK5XSxAWzdo56UO/view

You can also see my webpage for more info: https://thoreau.concordps.org/bmurphy/national-virtual-field-day-2020/. Students can try some or all the activities, but by Friday May 8th they must choose 4 activities they wish to participate in, but can do as many as your family wishes. Activities can be done at any point throughout the day. The activities are designed to be played with common household goods. Parents may want to check out materials needed for activities here: https://openphysed.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/NFD-Equipment-List-English.pdf

Remember students do not have to practice all the activities, but they certainly can if they want to! If you don’t have the exact materials you can improvise or just skip that activity. No other work will be given from classroom teachers on that day! We hope this will be a fun day for your child!

Thanks, stay safe and be well
