Minecraft: Join us for the Thoreau Minecraft club! This club offers the unique experience of playing with others using Minecraft.edu. Minecraft mentors will be available to help students design and construct and students will be encouraged to collaborate in this virtual world while solving differences in constructive ways. Who: grades 2-5, Where: Computer Lab, Class limit: 13, Cost: $60, no personal membership is needed. When: Mondays, 3:30 – 4:45 on 10/3, 10/17, 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5

Fuzzy Felt: Join Mrs. Dillon in her sewing extravaganza! Learn how to sew bags, pillows, stuffed animals and learn appliqué. Fun for boys and girls who like crafts. Who: Grades 3-5, Where: Mrs. Dillon’s Room, Class limit: 10, Cost: $80. When: Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 on 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16

Explorations in Drawing: In this class, led by Joanne Stowell, students will explore different ways of seeing and making drawings, from drawing what they see in front to them to drawing from imagination. The class will provide an overview of the different styles of drawing, from realistic to abstract. The students will also experiment with subjects each week practicing drawing, from a simple still-life, drawing landscapes and portraits, and drawing “designs” fully from the imagination. Students will also learn and practice some basic drawing skills, such as adding value and depth by shading, and they will get a chance to experiment with different types of drawing materials. Who: Grades 3-5, Where: Art Room, Cost: $90 + $10 for materials, When: Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 on 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10 (11/17 make-up if needed)
