Thanks to everyone who attended our meeting this morning!  Remember that even if you cannot make the PTG meetings, your ideas and energy are always welcomed.  Please contact us to let us know if and how you would like to get more involved!
Dr. Robert Brooks, the speaker that we co-funded with the other elementary PTGs, brought a great audience of over 250 people! Thank you to everyone for supporting this event!  Enjoy your April vacation week! -Carla and Louisa

On your Mark. Get Set. Thoreau! Get ready to run Sunday, May 18 at the Thoreau School 8th Annual Road Race. Start training now with the whole family for the 5K run at 11:00 am and the Kids’ Fun Run (.5 and 1 mile) at 12:00 pm, followed by great food, games, a bouncy house, the awards ceremony and more! Spread the word and bring your friends! All events take place at and around The Thoreau School.  For more information or to volunteer, contact Mitzi Johnson at mitzifowler@yahoo.com or Jill Yates at jillhamilton@gmail.com.

Have you been wondering where your child’s other pearl earring went?  Or that blue snowflake winter coat?  Or those piano lesson books?  Guess what – they are in the lost and found at Thoreau right now!

Here is an on-line photo gallery of what was in the lost and found as of Friday, April 11 –> virtual lost and found.  Even if you don’t think you’re missing anything, please take a look.  Often we are not aware that something is missing until it’s too late and the lost and found contents have been donated to charity.  The next donation is happening this Friday, April 18, so click now to view the gallery.  There are many, many sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, lunch boxes, toys and other items in there – even some with names on them!  Everything could be bagged up for donation as early as Thursday mid-afternoon, so don’t delay.

If you want to stop by yourself to retrieve your child’s items, the school is open from before 6:30am (for a before-work swing-by) throughout the day until around 4:30 or 5pm.  If the front door is locked, use the buzzer system to be let in.  The lost and found is currently in the main hallway at the entrance to the cafeteria. – Kimber Lynn Drake

Spring Cleanup Help Available

Do you need your garage cleaned, lawn raked, or beds mulched? Then think of the Concord Carlisle High School Boy’s Lacrosse Team. We are holding our annual spring workdays on Saturday May, 10. There is no job too big for our boys to handle. There are four hour shifts available at $15 per hour, per boy, with a two boy minimum. This is our only fundraiser for the year, so please support the CCHS Boy’s Lacrosse Team this spring! To reserve a workday team, please email cchslax2014@yahoo.com. Thank you in advance for supporting CCHS Boy’s Lacrosse!

Parent Education Program from Center for Parents and Teachers, Inc.

Parents who have children who are 3 through 9 years old are invited to a new 3-session morning series: “Wow! My Child Listens Now!”: Build Listening Skills & Strengthen Family Relationships. Monday mornings May 5, 12, 19, 9:30-11:00 am.  Facilitated by popular and highly skilled presenter and family therapist, Patricia Marquis, LICSW; $75 for all 3 sessions and materials. Limited number of spaces available; pre-registration is required in advance!   Information and directions will be emailed once you register.

If you have found yourself pleading to your child to listen to you or find that too often your child seems glazed over while your are speaking directly to him/her, this workshop will be helpful for you.  We will identify and explore the factors that increase the probability of your child listening to you.

To register email cpt@colonial.net and type “My Child Listens Now!” in the subject line.  Include in your email the ages(s) of your child(ren) and your phone number.  Then mail a check (made out to “Center for Parents and Teachers”) to Center for Parents and Teachers, 120 Meriam Road, Concord MA 01742. Questions? Please call us at 978-202-1143.
