Holiday Family Concert- Dec. 1
The Concord Orchestra, conducted by Richard Pittman, presents a Holiday Family Concert on Saturday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The orchestra performs “The Composer is Dead”, an amusing murder mystery with narration by Lemony Snicket and music by Nathaniel Stookey. Narrator Joyce Kulhawik is the inspector who interviews the instruments in the orchestra, who are all murder suspects. Also on the program is the lively Marche Joyeuse by Chabrier. The Westford Academy Honors Orchestra joins the Concord Orchestra strings for David Diamond’s Rounds for String Orchestra. The performance concludes with a sing-along of holiday music. Performances are at the Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden in Concord. Tickets for adults are $20 at the door, $19 online. Tickets for children and young adults under 21 are $10. Concord Promise unites parents with a promise to delay giving their child a smartphone until at least 8th grade and is committed to education opportunities for all parents. Supported by recent research regarding the impact of smartphones on developing brains, our hope is that, together, we can make a change and give our kids the gift of a hands-free, heads-up childhood. Even if you have checked out our site previously, please visit again as we have added many new resources to educate all parents (even if your child already has a smartphone) and kids on the risks and responsibilities of smartphone use. We will also add more events this fall, including community conversations and forums to discuss the challenges of raising kids during the digital age.
