Don’t Forget: Bake Your Cakes!

It’s Not Too Late to Bake a Cake!!!

The Thoreau Family Festival and Cake Walk is TOMORROW – Saturday, April 6th from 2pm to 4pm at the Thoreau School!

We still need a CRAZY amount of cakes–300 to 400–to make this year’s event a success.  The more cakes we get, the more prizes we can give out at the Cake Walk.  One box of mix can make 2 cakes!

Please bring your cake(s) to the Thoreau School on Saturday starting at 12:30pm.  Go to the main entrance and head downstairs – we’ll be receiving cakes in the Faculty Dining Room, next to the Gym.

Cakes to be entered in the Cake Decorating Contest must be dropped off before 1:30pm.  Judging will begin at 1:45pm.  All cakes entered in the Contest must be decorated by a Thoreau student, wrapped in plastic wrap, and labeled with the student’s name, grade, teacher, decorating category, and cake flavor. Please do not bring cakes on plates or use decorations that you want returned to you.  The decorating categories are: Best Animal Theme, Best Book Theme, Best Food Theme, Best Nature Theme, Best Sports & Games Theme, Best Thoreau Spirit, Cleverest Cupcakes, Most Colorful and Most Creative.  Students may enter as many cakes as they like.  Cakes that win the Contest will be displayed during the Festival and may be taken home by their respective student decorators.  Cakes that do not win the Contest will become fabulous prizes for the Cake Walk!

If you are donating cakes just as prizes for the Cake Walk (not to be judged in the Contest), you may drop them off starting at 12:30pm or at any time throughout the event.  All cakes must be wrapped in plastic wrap and labeled with the flavor of the cake.

We also need all kinds and combinations of allergen-free cakes: peanut-free, tree nut-free, egg-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free.  Please let us know that it is an allergen-free cake when you drop it off and include the ingredients.
