Good news! We have an opportunity to win big in the Market Basket e-Box Tops Sweepstakes this month. Between now and January 31, visit a Market Basket store and pick up an entry form at the courtesy desk for a chance to win 5,000 e-Box Tops for Thoreau School. That’s worth $500! You might say “Oh, I never win those things,” but our school actually has won this contest THREE TIMES – so never say never!

Entries must be postmarked by January 31. Visit http://www.mydemoulas.net/locations/massachusetts/ for a complete list of Market Basket stores in Massachusetts. Or if you rarely get to a Market Basket store but you want to help, please email your street address and phone number to me at kimber.drake@comcast.net and let me know that it’s ok for me to submit an entry form for you. (Past Thoreau winners of this contest have not received any unwanted postal mail or spam email from submitting an entry form.)  Thanks in advance for your help, and good luck to all! – Kimber Lynn Drake, Box Tops for Education Coordinator (978) 831-3058

A huge thanks to all 3rd Grade families who contributed to the January PTG Staff Breakfast; it was a great spread and wonderful way to welcome staff back after winter break!  Thanks to coordinators Amy Lima, Kim Capello, and Jennifer Ubaldino. The next Staff Breakfast will be hosted by the 2nd Grade and is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 (mark your calendars!).

Next time you’re visiting Thoreau School, be sure to take a moment to see the new photo board (around the corner as you enter the building, outside the auditorium). It’s a great photo-essay on the amazing year our kids, their teachers and administrators, and you parents, are enjoying together. Warm thanks to our fearless parent photographers, Michelle Friedman and Becky Holzer (and all who forwarded especially fun pix) for making it so fun.  Go Thoreau!!

A correction to our last Annual Fund update regarding a Discovery Museum program: In December, Discovery Museum staff visited our 2nd graders at Thoreau to teach them about sound.  This program was made possible by your generous support of the Thoreau PTG.  Also thanks to Rosie Garcia, Amy Tenenbaum, and Amy Zall for coordinating these enrichment programs.   Please don’t put off your tax deductible contribution to the Thoreau PTG.  Every dollar makes a difference!  Donate Now:  https://www.thoreauptg.org/online-giving
