Many of these donors have already been thanked in earlier Announcements. We would also like to acknowledge Pam Foggo, Benjamin Neville, Maddie Gibson, the Jennings family, the Hawes family, Gemma Feinstein, Kelsie Sim, Simon Zall, Noah Zall, Marty Lapointe-Malchik, the Feigh family, the Pomeroy family, the Drake family, Liam Covert, Sabrina Comeau, Zoe Fife, Felicity Zhang, Charlie Gillick, and the Thoreau PTG for their gifts to the library. Special thanks go to Liz Wei for managing our Gift Book program.
THANK YOU TO THE BOOK ROOM VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to the book room volunteers who did an incredible job this year: Prow Sarns, Kim Hodder, Laura Koh, Katherine Hollywood, and Kun Liu. You accomplished a lot! Thanks to you we have multiple years of information in our inventory that informs us which books are well-used and where we need to edit our collection. Have a wonderful summer with your families and I hope you consider the book room again next year. I couldn’t do it without you! Joyce Carter

BOX TOPS CLASSROOM CONTEST RESULTS
The tallies are complete! Final standings in the Box Tops for Education classroom contest are: kindergarten=Ellis, 1st grade=Walsh, 2nd grade=Watson, 3rd grade=Gallagher, 4th grade=Keefe, 5th grade=Hourihan. Congratulations to all the winning classrooms! Many thanks to all the families who participated. As a community we clipped almost 9,000 box tops this year and earned about $1,400.00 for Thoreau School programs, so really every student is a winner here.
It’s never too late to turn in your box tops! Although this year’s contest has ended, we will start tallying for next year’s right away. Just write your child’s name (not the teacher’s) on a slip of paper in the bag and we will credit the box tops to their new classroom in the fall. Thanks again for your support! – Kimber Lynn Drake, Box Tops for Education Coordinator

BE A ROOM PARENT FOR THE 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
Support your child’s teacher, get to know other families at Thoreau and be involved in the school community! Room parents are an integral part of the classroom, and the time commitment is flexible and manageable. Two parent volunteers are needed per classroom.
Room Parent duties may include the following:
Supporting your teacher with classroom specific needs such as organization of class celebrations, field trips, volunteer coordination, maintaining class web page (Wiki), organizing class gifts for the holidays/end of year and sending out class or school specific information via email distribution to your class. If you are interested, or have additional questions, please email Ali Baty at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: your name, your child’s/children’s name, your child’s/children’s grade level. The opportunity is limited, so please email as soon as possible. Thank you! BOKS Have you heard the music, seen the smiling faces, been told of the positive impact in the classroom? BOKS, a before school physical fitness program, was immensely popular this year and rightly so. With a mission to promote the profound impact of physics activity on a child’s mind, body and community, BOKS kids are better focused and ready to learn. The importance of BOKS is that any child can enjoy the benefits of fitness and that physical activity isn’t just reserved for athletes. Interested in joining our team or just learning more about BOKS? Please email Adrienne at Adrienne.email@example.com. Without a team of dedicated parent volunteers, the program cannot run. We look forward to hearing from YOU! BOKS ROCKS!! HELPFUL LINKS

Target Soccer This Summer
Target Soccer is excited to be offering a week-long camp for girls this summer. Target Soccer is directed by David Hosford (Concord/LS), Ray Pavlik (CC) and Dan McGrath (CC/Reading). Over the last 7 years, Target has run a summer camp for boys, and last year we started offering a program for the girls. Our model is to find the best coaches in the area, and pair them with many of the top high school players to have a week of fun learning about soccer. This is a camp for all abilities and we work hard to challenge the advanced players and encourage the players who might need more time to learn a certain skill. The results have been very positive.
