Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well. The film SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Winter play at Middlesex – A comedy for children of all ages!
Sun., Jan., 8 @ 2pm
Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to Circle of Women
Every January, Middlesex students perform a play for kids of all ages and donate the proceeds to charity.  This year’s play is a very goofy retelling of the traditional Cinderella story.  Full of unexpected twists, the play shows that true beauty comes from within and that it’s not just okay to be yourself, but that it’s the only way to be.

Concord Family Network invites you to a Valentine’s Day party on Saturday, February 4th, from 3:30-5:00pm at the Hunt Recreation Center, 90 Stow Street, Concord, MA! Bring the kids to do some Valentine’s Day crafts and gather on Ed “The Music Man” Morgan’s magic carpet to sing along and dance their sillies out! Refreshments available
We will again be collecting pantry items to benefit the Yawkee Family Inn at the Boston’s Children Hospital. Show your Valentine’s Day love by donating pantry items such as granola bars, oatmeal, packaged cookies, cereal, fruit cups, tea, and K-cup coffee (single servings work best). In addition, quick dinner fixes such as mac and cheese, soups, pasta and sauces would also be appreciated. A collection bin will be set up at the door.
All Concord-area families are invited. Free for CFN members, non-members pay only $3/child up to $10/family (Fee will be waived with a pantry item donation). For more information please contact or

Announcing the Cooler Concord Fair
Have you always wanted to save energy, but haven’t had the time to figure it all out and get it done? Help is on the way! Concord’s Sustainable Energy Committee (CSEC), in collaboration with the Town, the Schools and the Light Plant, is pleased to announce the “Cooler Concord” Fair to be held on Sat., Feb. 4, 2017 from 10- 4 at CCHS. The Fair will be a one-stop shopping opportunity for busy families to learn about simple and significant ways to save both energy and money. Attendees will be able to talk with local experts about such topics as solar power, hybrid and electric cars, programmable thermostats, weatherization, highly efficient heating systems and the latest in energy-efficient lighting. The town will be prepared with strong financial incentives to make it easy to move forward. There will be giveaways, lots of food, and engaging activities for kids of all ages. CCHS Environmental Science, Photo and Film students are creating informative exhibits; students from Alcott, Thoreau, Willard and CMS will have their own interesting displays; and the CCHS Green Team is leading the way on event promotion.
Save the Date: This will be a “not-to-miss” event for Concord families, so mark your calendar and we’ll see you there!
