We want to start out by thanking our Staff Appreciation Committee for organizing this week’s Taco Tuesday event! We also want to thank all our 4th and 5th grade families who donated. We are so fortunate to be able to host such wonderful events for our Thoreau staff!

Halloween Costume Sale – October 27th
Bring your gently used Halloween costumes to Thoreau and drop them in the green tote directly next to the main office. All costumes will be swapped or sold at Concord Family Network’s Halloween Extravaganza on October 27 from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Concord Scout House. CFN members are free and non-CFN members are $5/child. All proceeds benefit CFN programs which directly impact Concord families. Want to join CFN? Cub Scout Rocket Launch Recruiting Event – October 27th
Calling all K-5 boys and girls interested in getting outside and learning what Cub Scouting at Thoreau is all about! Please join Cub Scout Pack 133 for our free annual rocket launch recruiting event at the Acton School Street Fields (320 School Street, Acton, MA 01720) on October 27, 10am to noon. We’ll provide the rockets and materials to decorate them, and then we’ll watch them take flight! Rain date is November 3rd, 10am to noon. Cradles to Crayons is Seeking Donations by Saturday, October 26th
Please check your kids’ closets for gently used clothing, shoes, toys, children’s books, and baby gear. All donations must be dropped off to the purple C2C bin at the Concord District Court at 305 Walden Street by Saturday, October 26th as they will be picked up the next morning for a community sorting event. Thank you and please be sure to check this list for more details on what they can and cannot accept. If you have larger items that won’t fit in the bin, please email Karen Graziani to make arrangements.
“Intelligent Lives” : Join Us for a Free Screening of the Film! – October 28th
Co-sponsored by the Acton-Boxborough, Concord/Concord-Carlisle, Maynard, and Sudbury Special Education Parent Advisory Councils. Dan Habib’s film “Intelligent Lives” follows three young adults, who have developmental or intellectual disabilities, challenging the perceptions of intelligence while navigating high school, college and the workforce. The film will be followed by a talk from Melanie Perkins McLaughlin, M.Ed., who was a consulting producer for “Intelligent Lives”. The screening will take place on Monday, October 28th from 7-9pm at the RJ Grey Junior High School Auditorium at 16 Charter Road in Acton. Book Sale at West Concord Union Church – November 2nd
The West Concord Union Church at 1317 Main Street will hold a community book sale on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, from 9am-4pm. Proceeds will benefit Esperanza-Hope for the Children, Inc., which has provided medical, educational and financial assistance in Honduras since 2001. The Fenn Sports Sale: All are welcome! – November 2nd

IMSCC Faculty Concert – November 15th
Bring the whole family and enjoy an evening of music performed by the Instrumental Music School of Carlisle and Concord’s talented faculty! Concord Education Fund 25th Sliver Anniversary Masquerade – November 16th
Join us for a memorable night of fun and friends in celebration of 25 years of supporting teachers and innovative learning in our Concord Public Schools on Saturday, November 16th at 300 Baker Ave in Concord.
