PTG Co-Presidents’ Message and News

Hello Thoreau!!  Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!  After a school year like no other, we are excited to be planning safe in-person events once again!  The PTG has already been hard at work planning and bringing events to the Thoreau Community.

First, our amazing Teacher Appreciation Co-Chairs, Jordan Binder and Heather Chiancola, organized a delicious Welcome Back Luncheon last Friday for our very hard-working faculty and staff. It was held in our huge outdoor tent, and it was so exciting to be able to hold the first in-person event in 18 months!!  Everyone felt appreciated and supported.

Then on Sunday our fabulous Social Co-Chairs, Kerri Nash and Julia Elliott, hosted the incoming Kindergarten Popsicle Party. This was held on our lower playground and we had a great turn out!  Also, thank you to our New Parent Coordinator, Erin Fife for attending and helping to connect our Kindergarten families.

We have many other events coming up in the next 2 months that we are excited about!  We have our annual Ice Cream Social as well as the annual K/1 parent coffee coming up in the next few weeks.  We also have two new fun fall fundraising events coming your way: Back to School Family Movie Night and a Toy Swap.  Stay tuned for more details on all of these events!

We have some new members on the executive of the PTG this year.  Erin Sahacic joins Evy as Co-President, and Natalia Sternberger is our new Vice President.  We also welcome Cristina Aspuru as our Fundraising Chair.  Jennifer Hoffman returns as our Secretary and Sandeep Pisharody as our Treasurer.

Please see below for important information from our Social Chairs as well as an important message from the Front Office.

All of our PTG meetings are open to the Thoreau Community and for the time being they will remain virtual.  Mrs. Charles will send the zoom link for each meeting by email the day before the meeting.  Our first meeting is next Friday, September 10th at 9:30am.  We are always looking for more parent involvement and ideas.  We hope to see you all there!

Upcoming Events:

  • Friday, September 3rd at 10:00am via zoom:  Question and Answer session for all NEW Thoreau families.
  • Friday, September 10th at 9:30am via zoom: PTG Welcome Back Meeting!
