Volunteer Opportunities
Click here ( for more information on volunteering this year at Thoreau. We are specifically looking for someone to manage our Facebook account, parents to help with the BOKS program and one 4th/one 5th grade parent to coordinate Hobby Fair. Additionally, there are opportunities in the library, art room, PALS, school garden and more! Check this page frequently as we are always looking for more hands to enrich our students experiences at school.
Thank you
Thank you to Kim Capello and Pattie Turrettini who, on behalf of the Staff Appreciation committee, threw a fabulous luncheon for staff to welcome them back and wish them a great start to the school year. The food was delicious!
Thank you to Mari Alexander and the social committee for hosting the Kindergarten/1st grade Coffee. It was wonderful to have so many parents connecting over shared back to school experiences.
Thank you to Kimber Lynn Drake for welcoming all of the new families to Thoreau with much needed information and support which helps makes the transition to Thoreau a positive one!
New this year!  Playground Volunteer Opportunities with PALs

Learn Fife and Drum!  If your children enjoyed the recent Patriot’s Day activities in Concord perhaps next year they could be part of the excitement.  Our group serves as the Honor Guard at the North Bridge during the Concord Patriot’s Day Parade and is now accepting applications for new members ages 8 to 18. New members may choose to play the fife, the snare drum or the bass drum. No previous musical experience is necessary. The instructing staff is comprised of experienced teachers and musicians who have a love of music and want to pass that on to the next generation. We provide free music instruction during rehearsals; our staff volunteers their time to ensure that the fife & drum legacy continues in Massachusetts. The program runs year around. Our main performance season is the summer months. If you are interested and want more information, please see our website at or contact us at
